OUR CAUSES

Through the 2021 initiative of the Akofena Tech Challenge, the Kantanka Group of companies is reaching a new milestone searching for tech geniuses of the present and equipping them properly for Africa’s today and tomorrow. The initiative is scouring across Ghana for minds and hands that have the gift of Apostle Safo in manufacturing device solutions to daily Ghanaian problems and giving ten teams full funds and technical training to realize their dreams. The quest is unprecedented and truly ambitious yet one already set in motion by the new CEO and his team and it shows no signs of slowing down. This will draw the curtains for the next phase of tech collaborations across the continent as the 41st Tech Show of the Kantanka Group promises to offer the platform for innovative minds all over Africa, dubbed the” Kantanka Tech Expo 2021”.

Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena continues to collaborate with all bodies willing to set the tech development agenda on path in Ghana and beyond. His company continues to call on the AU to make good of its Agenda 2063 goals by employing the likes of the Kantanka Group to better the lives of its people.

Group’s Legacy Of Philanthropy

Apostle Safo, the Group’s founder, is known as the “Father of poor and needy” in Ghana catering for the highly vulnerable and those who are physically challenged including the widowed, orphans and the aged. Every year, donations in a form of cash or kind are given to these “marginalised” group as a way of touching and impacting their lives.

Charity as a feature of the company was formalized publicly through the annual charity and technology exhibition show of the Group. It has been organized since the 80s and seen annual stacks of corn, reared animals and cash given out to the Akropong School of the Blind, Osu Children’s Home, Pantang Mental Hospital and several facilities in need (across the nation). From single-handedly feeding some of the stranded Ghanaian returnees from Nigeria in 1983 amidst bush fire and famine that ravaged the country at that time, the Group’s founder has donated to Rehabilitation Centers, Social Welfare Centers, Prisons, Children’s Homes and other institutions throughout the country including the University of Ghana – Legon.  The first decade of the new millennium featured colorful annual end-of-year parties for disabled citizens organized and paid for by Apostle Safo. The trend has been maintained by new Group CEO Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena who believes that taking care of the marginalised is not only Civic Social Responsibility but a debt owed by all successful companies in the state.

Beyond that, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena spends heavily on school tutelage for hundreds of Ghanaian students especially females. Hundreds of brilliant but needy students graduate from Ghana’s top universities every year through the Kantanka Excellence Awards initiative. This is a project initially embarked on by Apostle Safo (founder)  in the early 2000s to eradicate illiteracy and poverty in the country.

Hundreds of crippled citizens were also cleared of the dangers on the streets when the group through its tech subsidiaries embarked on a decade long-project of manufacturing free tricycles for their mobility convenience. Not a dime was paid for the hundreds of machineries that were manufactured and distributed to the physically challenged at the annual tech show of the Group in Awoshie, Ghana. First lady of the Republic of Ghana, Rebecca Akuffo Addo expressed gratitude and awe at the company following the Apostle’s donation of Gh¢ 500,000.00 to the Rebecca Foundation in 2017. The funds helped complete her (first lady’s) initiative of building a new mother and child care unit for the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. The facility saves uncountable lives till date.
